The Red Sox signed Jon Switzer to a minor-league contract on Friday. He has been assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket, but he'll get an opportunity to win a bullpen job in the spring. He was hammered in the big leagues last year, holding an 8.05 ERA in 21 relief appearances.

August 8, 2007
The Devil Rays recalled Jon Switzer from the minors on Tuesday. He'll serve as the lone lefty in Tampa's bullpen.

July 5, 2007
Jon Switzer was recalled from Triple-A Wednesday, the AP reports. He was having a surprisingly strong year at Triple-A Durham (one run allowed over 22 innings), but his work with Tampa Bay will probably come in middle relief.

March 24, 2007
The Devil Rays placed Jon Switzer on the disabled list yesterday, according to the St. Petersburg Times. He's dealing with tendinitis in his left shoulder, and it's not clear when he will return to action.

June 21, 2006
The Devil Rays called up Jon Switzer from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday to take Ruddy Lugo's spot in the bullpen, according to the AP. Switzer went 3-0 with an 0.87 ERA in 26 games with Durham.
