Curt Schilling has yet to decide whether or not he'll play again in 2007, according to the Boston Herald. “If I come back next year, I know the offseason will be the hardest offseason of my career,” Schilling said. “It’s going to be a lot of hard work. I don’t want to come back and pitch, I want to come back and be the best. At this time in my life, that involves a lot more time and effort away from the ballpark. That’s a huge question for me, a huge question to delve into and deal with. We’ll see how it goes.” Schilling is 15-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 31 starts this year.

Curt Schilling was able to throw 13 minutes of long-toss from 60-100 feet on Saturday, according to the Boston Globe. He'll do so again today before having his strained side muscle examined tomorrow, at which time he may be cleared to throw off a mound. He hopes to return to action next weekend.

Curt Schilling was apparently invited to the All-Star Game at the last minute to replace Jose Contreras, but he declined, according to the Boston Herald. “I got a call (Monday) asking me to be part of the team at 11 o’clock in the morning. They asked me to replace people for the same reason they said I didn’t get picked, which really kind of bothered me a little bit,” Schilling said. “It wasn’t something I felt right about.” Francisco Liriano replaced Contreras, instead.

Curt Schilling was hit on his right elbow by a Jim Thome line drive in the sixth inning yesterday, according to the Boston Globe. He remained in the game for that inning but didn't return for the seventh. X-rays on the joint came back negative, and he said he plans to make his scheduled start Saturday. "We'll see how it feels in the next day or two," he said. "It's pretty swollen, it's pretty sore."
