Jesse Crain, who is reportedly suffering from a sore knee, was the pitcher of record in the 6-5 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday night.

Jesse Crain had his knee examined Friday and was told he needed no X-rays, according to MLB.com. "They told me right now they don't think it's any kind of a fracture or anything," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He should be fine in a couple of days." Crain took a line drive off the joint on Thursday, but it sounds like he'll be all right.

The Star Tribune reports that Jesse Crain, pitching in a minor league spring training game Thursday, suffered a bruised right knee after being struck by a line drive. Twins team physician Dr. Dan Buss examined Crain and determined that no X-Rays were needed. “I plan on throwing Sunday unless Andy (pitching coach Rick Anderson) or the doctors say something,” Crain said. The right-hander was pitching in the first inning when Guillermo Quiroz hit a liner up the middle striking Crain. The Twins reliever was limited to 18 games a year ago, but has the ability to post solid K rate.

Jesse Crain considered his appearance on Monday a success even though he allowed one run and three hits in one inning. "By far, this is the best I've thrown," Crain said after his outing. "I threw all my pitches for strikes and my slider was a lot better today." Crain was limited to just 16.1 innings last season but he figures to have a prominent role in the Twins bullpen if he can remain healthy.

Jesse Crain, who's coming back from shoulder surgery, threw off the mound Wednesday, his second bullpen session of the week. The reliever said he feels about 80 percent right now. "It's taking a little getting used to again," Crain said to MLB.com. "I feel good now but I think that whenever I face hitters, that's when I will really see how I feel." The plan is for Crain to throw every other day, at least for the first few weeks of camp, but the club will be cautious with him. He could be ready at the beginning of the year, but it's not out of the question he could also begin the year on the DL.
