John Danks continues to do fine work for the Pale Hose. The southpaw improved to 10-5 by holding the A's to six hits and one run over six innings. Danks walked five and struck out five. He is 3-0 against the A's this year.

Danks now carries an ERA of 8.00 and may suffer moving forward if his mental gets the best of him.

John Danks had a rough first inning Tuesday, but after hearing it from pitching coach Don Cooper, he settled down and performed well, according to the Chicago Tribune. "It was a case of getting ahead of guys, and letting them get off the hook," Danks said. "Coop made it clear that's not acceptable, and we know that. After that, I felt great." In that first inning, Danks walked two batters and gave up two doubles and three runs. After that, Danks retired 13 of the next 14 batters he faced before giving up a homer at the beginning of the sixth inning. Danks doesn't even turn 23 until the middle of next month so you can expect some ups and downs from game to game, and even from inning to inning.

John Danks started for the Chicago White Sox, going four innings and allowing one run and three hits in the Sox's 6-4 victory over the split-squad San Francisco Giants. The team felt Danks' work was so effective, he was allowed to throw 20 more pitches in the bullpen after the outing. Clearly, the hope is to encourage and progress a young man that has been somewhat inconsistent this spring, not to mention last season (allowing 28 homers in just under 140 innings). Today's performance may be a step in the right direction.

Danks allowed an alarming 28 HR last year in just 139 innings, a total that he must drastically reduce this season if he wants to be a productive member of the team's starting rotation.
