Aaron Hill didn't need a trip to the DL after all. It was reported Thursday that the Blue Jays placed the second baseman on the DL due to a sore knee, but the knee improved enough over the break that he didn't need a DL stint, according to MLB.com. "The initial report was that he was probably going to have to take some more time off and probably be a DL candidate," GM J.P. Ricciardi said. "Then, on Wednesday, he felt even better. So we dodged a bullet. We really thought he'd probably end up on the DL." Hill started on Thursday and picked up two hits and scored a run.

The Blue Jays have put second baseman Aaron Hill on the disabled list because of a sore knee. The move is retroactive to Sunday. There is no word on a timetable for his return. The Jays have called up Russ Adams and he is expected to see plenty of time at second until Hill is healthy.

Aaron Hill batted leadoff in Thursday's loss at Cleveland, and John Gibbons hasn't said how long the move will stick, the Blue Jays official site reports. "It's just a little adjustment," said Gibbons. "I'm going to give Aaron a little shot up there. He's doing a little better at getting on base (than normal leadoff man Alex Rios)." Hill wound up going 0-for-5, so it will be interesting to see if Gibbons sticks with this lineup tweak into the weekend.
