April 7, 2008
David Murphy just keeps on hitting. He went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run on Sunday, and his average fell to .409. Murphy was supposed to be part of a platoon with Marlon Byrd and Frank Catalanotto, but his hot bat has changed the scenario, thus far. "I expected it to be more of a round-robin thing," manager Ron Washington explains to the Dallas Morning News. "But the guy is swinging a hot bat and running everything down. You can't take him out when he's going like that."
April 5, 2008
David Murphy continued his impressive start to the season on Saturday night as he hit his first home run of the year for the Rangers. The kid is hitting .412 in five games this season and his bat keeps giving the club a reason to have him in the lineup. Right now he should be owned in all AL Only leagues, though rostering him a mixed league format seems a bit premature.
