As expected, the Rangers recalled David Murphy from Triple-A Oklahoma Friday. Murphy, who was acquired from Boston in the Eric Gagne deal last month, hit a combined .280 with nine homers, 47 RBI and eight steals for Pawtucket and Oklahoma.

The Rangers are expected to call up David Murphy from the minors today to replace the injured Jerry Hairston on the roster, according to the Dallas Morning News. Murphy, was acquired in the Eric Gagne trade, will be used off the bench.

The Rangers acquired David Murphy from the Red Sox on Tuesday as a part of the Eric Gagne deal, according to ESPNews. It's unclear what the Rangers intend to do with Murphy, but they will most likely send him down to Triple-A.

The Red Sox recalled David Murphy before Friday's game. He was hitting .283 for Triple-A Pawtucket but was called up for his defense. He struck out in his lone at-bat Friday and likely will head back down when a pitcher is recalled to start Tuesday's game.
