Conor Jackson is listed as day-to-day following a brutal collision in Wednesday's game against the Phillies, according to the AP. In the eighth inning of action, Shane Victorino took off for first base after he struck out and the ball got past Arizona catcher Chris Snyder. Both players arrived at the base simultaneously, resulting in the collision as Victorino’s helmet caught Jackson on the right side of his face under his eye. Jackson was forced to leave the game but never lost consciousness, and the Diamondbacks do not yet know if he suffered a concussion.

Conor Jackson was replaced by Chris Burke in the top of the fifth inning during Wednesday’s game due to a left wrist injury. He was hit in the wrist by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning but stayed in the game to run the bases. X-rays came back negative, and the D'Backs consider him day-to-day. In the event Jackson has to miss a game or two, Burke would likely fill in at first base.

Conor Jackson has been battling illness and was taken to the hospital on Wednesday, according to the Arizona Republic. He left Wednesday's game in the fifth inning and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he underwent chest X-rays and was given antibiotics. Jackson had some trouble breathing after chasing a foul ball earlier in the game, and he later stated, "I'm fine. I think it's just a virus." Hopefully the young slugger will get back on track soon.

Conor Jackson hit cleanup for the D'Backs in Monday's opener, and he'll remain in the No. 4 spot for now, according to the East Valley Tribune. “Right now Conor is driving runs in, so I am comfortable hitting him ‘4,’ ” manager Bob Melvin said. “Originally I thought when spring training started it might be more him third and (Eric) Byrnes fourth, but Conor had a great spring with runners on base.” It sounds like Jackson will move to the three spot if he goes anywhere, so his fantasy value won't be affected dramatically either way. He's a breakout candidate this year.

Conor Jackson has been sick since Saturday and continues to battle the flu, according to the East Valley Tribune. Before the game on Monday he stated that he wanted to go back to bed and admitted that he felt light headed while running out a grounder in the sixth inning. It didn't keep from playing well however, as he went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 4-2 win over Cincinnati. Jackson should continue to get back up to full strength.

Conor Jackson lost his biggest competition for playing time when it was learned that Tony Clark will spurn the teams offer and instead play for the Padres in 2008. Jackson has hit .288 with a .368 OBP the past two seasons while producing 15 HR in each season, a sub par total for a 1B. While Jackson doesn't figure to morph into a 30 HR beast this season, now that he will likely be given 550 AB he certainly makes a fine target as a middle infield option in mixed leagues.
