According to MLB.com, the Washington Nationals have officially lost Chad Cordero for the rest of the season. His torn right labrum will cause him to have season ending surgery on his shoulder.

Chad Cordero, who is recovering from a torn shoulder muscle, is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday at the Nationals' team complex in Florida, according to the Washington Post.

Chad Cordero will travel to Florida to throw at the team's spring training complex for at least two weeks as he attempts to build up strength in his shoulder, according to MLB.com.

Chad Cordero played catch without any pain on Monday, and was the first time he threw a baseball since being placed on the DL due to a torn shoulder adductor, according to MLB.com. Cordero threw 60 pitches between 45 and 60 feet without incident. The plan is for him to play catch every other day for two weeks, and he hopes to start throwing off the mound by the third week. Cordero said, "Everything felt good. I wasn't trying to blow it all out. I was a little nervous, too. When you have an injury like that, you don't know how it feels until you go out there. My first throw was kind of nerve wracking. I had no pain. The only thing I felt was not throwing for four weeks."

Chad Cordero said the soreness in his shoulder decreases every day, and is starting to lift weights, along with some cardio work, according to the Washington Times. He knows he can't speed up his recovery from his torn latissimus dorsi muscle, but he said he has been tempted to do so, and added, "I watched the first two games on TV, and it was just weird, being at home watching on TV while they're somewhere else playing. I don't like it too much, so I want to get back as soon as I can."
