He had a slow start this spring due to his recovery from shoulder surgery and a bout with the flu, but he has seven hits in his last 15 at-bats. It also helped that Jerry Owens is going to miss action with a torn groin.

Carlos Quentin returned to game action on Monday after spending some time on the sidelines to rest his surgically repaired shoulder, this according to MLB.com. Quentin went 2-for-5 on the day. "Am I there yet?" Quentin asked. "No, I'm not there as far as getting my timing down. But strength-wise, my shoulder feels even better." Quentin is in a battle for the starting LF role this season and he would appear to be the teams top choice to man the spot if he can prove that he is healthy.

The White Sox will shut down Carlos Quentin for a few days in order to rest his surgically repaired left shoulder. "This kid is going to be here for good and I think he was creating bad habits with his swing and it led to some soreness, but he'll be fine," manager Ozzie Guillen tells the Chicago Tribune. We're beginning to wonder if Quentin's shoulder will cause him to open the year back in the minors. He remains an intriguing long-term prospect, but this injury and a crowded outfield cloud his 2008 value.
