June 14, 2008
Sergio Mitre threw 30 pitches off a mound on Friday, the Miami Herald reports. He is on the DL due to a strained right forearm and has not pitched this year.
April 29, 2008
Sergio Mitre may begin throwing in a week, according to MLB.com. Mitre hasn't had any activity since straining his forearm in mid March.
March 13, 2008
The Marlins will open the season without right-hander Sergio Mitre , this according to the Sun-Sentinel. Mitre left camp Wednesday for a consultation with orthopedic surgeon James Andrews (never good) and was diagnosed with a right forearm strain. The treatment plan calls for Mitre to refrain from a throwing motion for 4-to-6 weeks. Best case, Mitre won't be ready for his 2008 debut until late May. This takes Mitre's NL-only fantasy interest from lukewarm to mild.
