The Padres recalled Freddy Guzman from Triple-A Portland on Tuesday. According to the AP, manager Bruce Bochy plans to play Guzman on a regular basis during the remainder of the season. Guzman will bat leadoff and replace Jay Payton in center field. He batted .292 with 12 doubles, 48 runs and 48 stolen bases in 66 games for Portland. Guzman started the season at Double-A Mobile where he hit .283 with 21 runs and 17 stolen bases in 35 games.
