The Mariners officially announced Felix Hernandez as Thursday's starter, according to the Seattle Times. "He's excelling at Triple-A, and sometimes when he's not, it looks like he might be," Mariners GM Bill Bavasi said. "Not that he's bored, but he can make mistakes at Triple-A and get away with it. So we need him to be somewhere where if he makes mistakes, he's going to learn from them. That translates into him needing to move up." Hernandez will be the first 19-year-old pitcher to start since Todd Van Poppel in 1991.
