The Twins have placed Scott Baker on the 15-day DL due to a strained right groin, MLB.com confirms. The move won't become official until Wednesday morning.
May 6, 2008
The Twins are expected to place righty Scott Baker on the 15-day DL, so he can fully heal from a mild right groin muscle strain, according to the Star Tribune. The team is going to be very cautious with Baker, who was off to a solid start (1.09 WHIP, with only five walks over 33 innings) before getting hurt. Baker was forced out of his last two starts due to the ailment.
May 4, 2008
Scott Baker will have an MRI exam on his strained right groin muscle on Monday, according to the Star Tribune. The team will have a better idea of how to proceed with the injury at that point.
May 3, 2008
Scott Baker left Saturday's game against the Tigers after three innings due to an apparent groin injury, according to the AP. Baker yielded just one hit with two strikeouts in three innings, and was replaced by reliever Brian Bass in the fourth.
April 30, 2008
Scott Baker threw his scheduled bullpen session on Wednesday morning, and felt no soreness in his strained groin muscle, keeping him on target to start Saturday's game against the Tigers, according to MLB.com. Manager Ron Gardenhire had stated that if Baker had any hint of soreness in the muscle during the session, the team was going to put him on the DL. Gardenhire added, "He ran as hard as he could run, threw as hard as he could throw and he feels nothing. So I can't argue with that. He's ready to go for Saturday and that's great news."
