It came down to this: Bannister couldn’t retire Garret Anderson in RBI situations. Anderson hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning and delivered two-out RBI singles in the fifth and seventh.

Brian Bannister returned to action on Sunday after missing the previous three days due to the flu and an eye injury. “Two days ago,” he tells the Kansas City Star, “I had fever and chills and a bad headache. I was having cramps. Aches and pains. I had everything. I had no energy. I was as sick as I’ve ever been. The last day, it’s just been stomach cramps. But physically, I feel fine now. I’ll throw today. I want to get right back on track.” Bannister is lined up to be the Royals No. 2 starter this year, and he could be a decent back-end addition in larger combo leagues.

Brian Bannister missed a second straight day of workouts on Saturday due to the flu, the Kansas City Star reports. Bannister isn't established enough to have the veteran's form of the "flu," so he must actually be sick. We're not too worried about his fantasy value.
