Brian McCann will be the starting catcher for the Braves in 2006 now that the team has traded Johnny Estrada. McCann probably has no more than a year and a half to establish himself before prospect Jared Saltamacchia is ready for the majors. McCann hit .274 with five homers in 175 at-bats for the Braves last year.

The Braves recalled Brian McCann from Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday to replace Eddie Perez on their roster, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. McCann was hitting .265 with six homers and 26 RBI in 48 games before the promotion.
