Jered Weaver threw seven scoreless innings on Monday to bounce back strong from his worst outing of the season. He allowed six hits and struck out five with just one walk. He improved to 10-2 in 15 starts.

Manager Mike Scioscia indicated on Wednesday that he's going to be careful with the amount of innings that he lets rookie Jered Weaver pitch the rest of the year, according to the AP. "We'll push him back if necessary, but so far he has been bouncing back just fine," Scioscia said. Weaver is 7-0 with a 2.20 ERA in 10 starts this year.

Jered Weaver went 4-0 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts with the big-league club earlier in the year, and he went 6-1 with a 1.99 ERA in 12 games at Salt Lake. He is expected to start on Monday against the Mariners.

The LA Times reports that the Angels are leaning towards letting Jered Weaver stay in the rotation when Bartolo Colon comes off the DL, meaning that Jeff Weaver would be sent to the bullpen. "He hasn't done much to hurt his case," Manager Mike Scioscia said of Jered. "The way he's executing pitches, he's shown he knows what to bring to the mound. He's not trying to elevate his game and do too much, and that certainly bodes well for a youngster in the big leagues." The rookie is 4-0 with a 1.37 ERA in four big-league starts this year.
