As expected, the Athletics activated Huston Street off the disabled list on Friday, according to the AP. Street had been sidelined with a strained right groin.

Huston Street, on the DL with a strained right groin, will be activated on Friday, according to the Contra Costa Times. He declared himself "absolutely" ready. Manager Ken Macha said that he would more than likely use Street in the ninth inning immediately. Justin Duchscherer will slide back into a setup role once Street returns.

If Huston Street reports to the clubhouse this afternoon with no tightness in his strained right groin, he could be activated before Friday's game against Tampa Bay, according to the Contra Costa Times. "Today was very good," Street said. "It went well. I was pushing off at 90 percent and there was no pain whatsoever. I felt I maintained my strength throughout. Tomorrow we'll see how it feels. That will be a big sign. Hopefully I'll have no pain and soreness." Street is slated to throw a simulated game on Wednesday.

Huston Street threw off the mound on Monday, but manager Ken Macha didn't seem excited about Street's progress. "We'll see how he throws today," Macha said. "He threw very tentatively (Sunday). If he continues to throw tentatively, then he's going to be pushed back. But if he throws well, then we'll put a plan in." Street is scheduled to pitch again Wednesday.

Huston Street made 30 pitches from a mound on Friday, according to the Contra Costa Times. "Huston's at that point where you have to trust your body again," trainer Larry Davis said. "It takes some guys longer than others. You can do agilities all day, but until you actually pitch, you don't think you're ready." Street is slated to throw another bullpen session on Sunday, the day he's eligible to come off the DL.

"It does not show any significant muscle tearing. Basically what we're dealing with is a slight strain. He does have muscle weakness there."

According to the AP, Huston Street has a muscle strain in the right side of his chest that sidelined him for Thursday’s game against the Tigers and may keep him out of action at least through Friday. Street felt tightness beneath the armpit area of his right arm during Tuesday’s game against the Tigers, the last time he took the mound. While the injury is considered minor it is unclear whether he will be ready to pitch in the weekend series against the Angels. "The doctors are confident a couple days rest and he's going to be fine," manager Ken Macha said. Street has a 7.94 ERA and four saves in seven appearances this season.

In a save situation Thursday, Justin Duchscherer took the mound in the ninth for the A's instead of regular closer Huston Street. Duchscherer proceeded to blow a two-run lead, which led to the A's loss. Manager Ken Macha was most likely just giving Street a rest, as he had pitched in four of the last five games.

Huston Street is working on adding a changeup to his pitching repertoire, according to the AP. "The hitters told me that his changeup was really nasty when he got it over the plate," A's manager Ken Macha said. "He has a fastball that he spots on both sides of the plate, a good hard slider he can spot on both sides of the plate. We're going to try to get him to throw more changeups this year so he can be more effective against lefties."
