Chris Ray tweaked a hamstring fielding a bunt Friday night and was not available Saturday, according to the Baltimore Sun. Ray is considered day-to-day. Manager Sam Perlozzo said he will "mix and match" his bullpen as needed with Ray out.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Chris Ray was awarded a win instead of a save on Thursday night under Rule 10.19 c(4) Exception, which states: "Do not credit a victory to a relief pitcher who is ineffective in a brief appearance, when a succeeding relief pitcher pitches effectively in helping his team maintain the lead." In this case, Jim Brower was the pitcher of record, but all he did was allow an RBI single before escaping the inning on a caught stealing.

Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo has said that Chris Ray will be the team's new closer, according to the Baltimore Sun. "We always felt that Chris could handle it," Orioles executive VP Mike Flanagan said. "We think he has the makeup for it, the mentality, the physical skills. We saw no apprehension on his part or shaking off pitches to try to trick somebody last year. It was like, 'Here's my best and let's go for it.' That's what you like about him." Ray hasn't even pitched at the Triple-A level, so he could have his ups and downs this year.
