Tigers manager Alan Trammell stated Thursday that the club didn't expect to call up Justin Verlander now that rosters have expanded, according to the Detroit News. "It's not 100 percent no," Trammell said. "But it's not looking like we'll bring him up. At this point, the (Florida) Instructional League is more likely -- so he doesn't do anything to try to impress here." Verlander has been bothered lately by a "tired arm."

Justin Verlander is scheduled to throw this week after two weeks off with a "tired arm," according to the AP. He went 11-2 at two levels in the minors this season, but was 0-2 with a 7.15 ERA in two starts for the Tigers.

The Tigers optioned Justin Verlander to Double-A Erie Tuesday, according to the AP. Verlander made his major league debut on Monday and allowed four runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. "I was very impressed," manager Alan Trammell said. "He's part of our future."

Recalled from Double-A Erie to make a spot start during Monday's doubleheader, Justin Verlander allowed four runs off seven hits in 5 1/3 innings in his major league debut on Monday. He struck out four and walked three. Three of his runs came in a rough first inning before he settled down, and he did throw several pitches that registered 99 MPH on the radar gun. He's expected to be sent down to the minors immediately.
