The Marlins announced Thursday that Mike Jacobs left the team for personal reasons and will not play during the season’s final games this weekend, according to the AP. Jacobs is hitting .262 with 20 home runs.

Mike Jacobs was out of the lineup Monday and will likely be on the bench again Tuesday and Wednesday because the Mets will be sending left-handers to the mound in all three games of the series, according to the Miami Herald. Jacobs has hit just .188 with two homers against lefties this year, as opposed to .285 with 17 homers against righties. "I have been given the chance and I haven't done it," said Jacobs. "Right now we need to win games, bottom line. Whatever the best way to do that is the way we've got to go with. It's egos aside right now." Wes Helms started Monday in Jacobs' place and will likely do so again the next two games.
