Mike Jacobs just can't seem to get over his thumb injury. He's expected to require another 7-10 days on the disabled list before returning to action, according to the Sun-Sentinel. "My goal this year was to get 550 at-bats and see what I could do with a full season. Obviously, I've already missed 20 or 30 games. That's 100 at-bats right there I've lost out on." 27 games, to be precise. If the results of X-rays taken Friday show his fractured thumb has healed enough, he could be cleared to hit off a tee. Keep him out of your lineups next week and hope for the best.

It's possible that Mike Jacobs will require a trip to the disabled list, according to the Sun-Sentinel. He returned to action yesterday after a six-game absence due to a sore right thumb but was forced to exit when his bat flew out of his hand in the fourth inning. "I didn't want to go on the disabled list, but I might have to do it," Jacobs said. "I don't have enough strength in my lower hand with the protective shield that I'm using to hold the bat without pain. I just can't grip it firmly." More should be known about his status after he's examined further today, but he's not safe to put in weekly lineups.
