March 31, 2008
Mike Morse is believed to platoon with Brad Wilkerson in the Mariners' outfield this season, according to the Seattle Times. Morse can hit as he maintained a .444 average over 18 at-bats in 2007, but his fantasy value is limited.
March 21, 2008
Mike Morse has not earned a bench job with the Mariners despite his .525 batting average this spring, according to the Seattle Times. The utilityman didn't do himself any favors by hitting into the 10th-inning double-play and botching a pair of late fly balls in the outfield during Thursday's game. Morse is out of options and still seems like a good bet to make the opening day roster, but it appears it's not set in stone.
March 4, 2008
Mike Morse went 2-for-4 in the MarinersÂ’ Cactus League loss to the Oakland Athletics today, dropping his spring training average from .714 to .636, according to ESPN. Morse is battling for a backup position in the outfield for Seattle this season and has driven in six runs in five games.
February 29, 2008
Mike Morse is doing his best to win a bench job with the Mariners. He drove in the tying and go-ahead runs with a single in the eighth inning Friday, one day after he had a double with two RBI and a run scored. Morse is out of options and isn't likely to pass through waivers, so there's a good chance he'll win a utility job if he has any kind of spring.
