Chris Young is off to a favorable start as he generated four homers,six RBI, and two stolen bases, but he co-leads the MLB with 12 strikeouts (with Bill Hall), and his average sits at .212 over 33 at-bats. Young remains one of the hottest young sluggers in baseball, and his average should climb up soon enough.

The details have come in on Chris Young's contract extension. It is for $28 million over five years, and the D'Backs hold a $11 million option with a $1.5 million buyout for 2014, according to the AP. Young is off to a nice start this year, with four homers and two steals in the first seven games.

Young also had another hit, two runs scored and two RBI on the evening as his averaged moved up to .259. HR and SB should be come in abundance with Young this year but he will be a fantasy stud only if he can get that batting average up as he currently possesses a .239 batting average in 666 career AB.

Chris Young and the Diamondbacks agreed to terms on a six-year contract extension on Monday, MLB.com reports. The deal will lock up the young outfielder through 2013. Terms were not disclosed, and the team will formally announce the contract on Tuesday.

Young has three home runs and two SB in five games this season though he is also hitting only .263 with nine K in five games. The home runs and steals are fantastic and figure to be there all year, though if he keeps striking out at this rate he will be lucky to hit even .250.

About the only part of Young's offensive game that is a real negative is his ability to control the strike zone, so if he can coax a few more walks, while cutting down on his strikeouts, he would certainly have a great shot at going 30/30 this season.

The Arizona outfielder is being drafted this summer like he was a five time veteran All Star. Young's upside is over-the-top, but his small sample and lack of plate discipline is concerning.

Chris Young enjoyed a breakout season in 2007, but he wants to be even better in 2008, according to MLB.com. Young commented, "This year, I've got to stay off that nasty stuff they throw me on the outside that I've been swinging at. I'm sure anyone would like to have a better on-base percentage. Getting on base is important, because I know the more I get on base, the more I can steal, the more I can make an impact on a game, and that's what I plan on doing. I've got to work on getting better jumps on the bases. Baserunning is something I want to make a huge improvement on. want to be more consistent out there," he said. I'd also like to be more aggressive defensively." Sounds like Young is primed for a strong follow-up to 2007.
