Chris Young, who typically bats leadoff, was moved down to the sixth spot in the order on Tuesday. "I've been thinking about it for a little while and wanted to mix it up," manager Bob Melvin told the Arizona Republic. "The group's still the same." Melvin did note that Young could return to the leadoff spot at some point this season. Young should get more RBI opportunities batting lower in the lineup, but he also may get fewer chances to steal bases.

Since the Diamondbacks don't play today, manager Bob Melvin held Chris Young out of Sunday's contest to give him some extra rest. Melvin said he believes Young still is a half-step slow due to a strained groin, according to the Arizona Republic. "I still don't think he's 100 percent yet," Melvin said. "I'd like to get him there. . . . Hopefully these next two days do it." Young will need to get his leg up to full strength, so his speed can help balance his pedestrian .269 batting average.

Chris Young was out of the starting lineup on Monday to rest his groin injury. "After you come back from something like that, there's usually a little soreness after a day or two until you can play every day for nine innings," manager Bob Melvin told the AP. It's unclear if Young will feel well enough to be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

Chris Young was back in the lineup Saturday, going 1-for-2 with a walk against Houston. He's been battling a sore hamstring.

Chris Young ran the bases well enough before Friday's game to avoid going on the disabled list, the AP reports. Young, who's dealing with a sore hamstring, was not in the starting lineup Friday but is expected to play Saturday.
May 24, 2007
Chris Young was unable to complete Thursday's game due to his nagging groin injury. He was pulled after three innings, according to the AP. Young was a late scratch on Wednesday due to the ongoing problem. It seems likely he will miss some more action.

Chris Young was able to do some sprints in the outfield on Tuesday, but his strained left groin still isn't 100 percent, according to the Arizona Republic. Still, manager Bob Melvin plans to insert him in the starting lineup for tonight's contest. Young has been out of the lineup since May 18.
May 22, 2007
There's a chance Chris Young could be back in the lineup today, but manager Bob Melvin said that Wednesday is a more likely target. Young has been out since Friday due to a groin injury, according to the Arizona Republic.
May 21, 2007
Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin said that Chris Young might return to action today, according to the Arizona Republic. Young, who was bothered by a strained left groin earlier in the season, has missed the past two games with a strained right groin. He has six steals on the season, so he'll need to nip this in the bud so he can keep his speed up.
May 19, 2007
After being bothered by a strained left groin earlier this season, Chris Young now is hampered by a strained right groin. He said he felt the muscle tighten up on him as he stole second base in the first inning last night, and he left the game for good in the second inning, according to the Arizona Republic. "Hopefully at the most, I'll miss three games," he said. "But I'm going to come in (today) and get it worked on, and if I can go, I'll go. I'm ready to get back in there as quick as I can." Although Young said he didn't think it was serious, at the very least it's a bit disconcerting for him to already have problems with muscles in both legs this early in the season. Expect him to sit out today's game at the very least.
April 12, 2007
Chris Young tested his strained left groin by running at about 95 percent effort on Wednesday, according to the Arizona Republic. Manager Bob Melvin said Young is expected to get back into game action on Friday.
April 11, 2007
While it's possible that Chris Young could return to action this evening, manager Bob Melvin might be tempted to give the outfielder one more day off to rest, according to the Arizona Republic. Young is dealing with a strained left groin.
April 10, 2007
Chris Young was unavailable Monday and the Diamondbacks are considering his availability on a day-to-day basis, the East Valley Tribune reports. Young left Sunday's game after straining his groin. "The way he was moving around today would suggest not a (stint on the) DL," manager Bob Melvin said Monday. "But groin strains you've got to be cautious with them."
April 8, 2007
Chris Young left Sunday's game in the eighth inning after tweaking his groin, according to the AP. Young didn't think the injury was serious. He'll be evaluated on Monday.

Chris Young is hitting just .242 this spring, but he picked up three hits in yesterday's exhibition game and is feeling more confident about his swing, according to the Arizona Republic. "He's been battling his confidence a little bit because the results haven't been there," hitting coach Kevin Seitzer said. "He's been a little jumpy and trying too hard. Now the confidence is starting to come. He's in a good place."
