Brandon McCarthy has been cleared to start throwing again, according to MLB.com. The right-hander is out until the All-Star break because of severe inflammation in his right forearm.

Brandon McCarthy has been shut down for another six weeks after aggravating the right forearm muscle that has kept him out of action since early March, according to the Star-Telegram. He said the soonest he could return would be around the All-Star break.

Brandon McCarthy has been cleared to step up his throwing program and could be on a mound in a little over a week, the Dallas Morning News reports. He is on the 60-day DL due to inflammation in his right forearm and won't be back until late May or early June.

Brandon McCarthy, who is currently rehabbing his ailing forearm in Surprise, Ariz., will return to Arlington next week to be re-examined by team orthopedist Dr. Keith Meister, according to the Dallas News. If that exam goes favorably, McCarthy could be cleared to start throwing off a mound. He is on the 60-day DL, and not eligible to return until May 29.
