Mike Timlin is due to come back off of the DL prior to Thursday's game, according to the Boston Herald. Chris Smith was optioned to the minors to create room on the roster.

According to the Boston Globe, Red Sox reliever Mike Timlin pitched a clean eighth inning versus Richmond on Thursday night. Timlin on a rehab assignment, will pitch three or four one-inning stints for the PawSox before rejoining the team next week.

Mike Timlin began his rehab assignment on Thursday as he threw 10 pitches to retire the order in an inning of work, according to the Providence Journal.

June 25, 2008
Mike Timlin, out with left knee tendinitis, is on pace to make an appearance in Triple-A for the Pawtucket Sox on Thursday, with a targeted return date of July 4th if everything goes well, according to MLB.com. "He'll throw an inning tomorrow night in Pawtucket and go from there," said manager Terry Francona.

Mike Timlin has been placed on the 15-day DL due to tendinitis of the left knee. according to the Providence Journal. Dice-K has been activated from the DL, as a corresponding move. Manager Terry Francona said, "It's something he's been pitching through. I think it has something to do with the inconsistency. We all ended up agreeing that this is probably the best thing for him and the organization."
