"There’s a real possibility I could shut it down," Timlin said.

Mike Timlin, out with left knee tendinitis, is on pace to make an appearance in Triple-A for the Pawtucket Sox on Thursday, with a targeted return date of July 4th if everything goes well, according to MLB.com. "He'll throw an inning tomorrow night in Pawtucket and go from there," said manager Terry Francona.

Mike Timlin has been placed on the 15-day DL due to tendinitis of the left knee. according to the Providence Journal. Dice-K has been activated from the DL, as a corresponding move. Manager Terry Francona said, "It's something he's been pitching through. I think it has something to do with the inconsistency. We all ended up agreeing that this is probably the best thing for him and the organization."

Mike Timlin played catch at a distance of 90 feet Monday, according to MLB.com. The veteran, who is on the DL with a lacerated finger, could return to the Red Sox on April 11. He'll go down to Triple-A Pawtucket to pitch in a few games before that. You can bet that Timlin will be pushing to come back on the 11th, since the Sox will be hosting the Yankees.

The Red Sox placed Mike Timlin on the DL Friday with a finger laceration. The move is retroactive to March 20, so Timlin will be eligible to return on April 4, which seems possible. David Aardsma or Bryan Corey will likely stick around until Timlin is ready.

He is not expected to pitch against the A's on Tuesday or Wednesday, and the team may want to be cautious with him as he has two stitches in his finger from a contusion. Mike Timlin's status for opening day is in doubt after he suffered a hand injury in a Triple-A game Wednesday, according to MLB.com. "I don't know yet," Timlin said of being ready for the opener. "We have to check it out. I can play catch. The ball hit me off the end of the finger. I tried to get my hand out of the way, actually. I wasn't trying to reach and catch the ball." The reliever had to get two stitches on his right ring finger. This means Manny Delcarmen, among others, could have a more integral role at the beginning of the year.
