Alex Gordon ’s batting average continues to go South, but the Royals still don’t have plans to send him to their Triple-A affiliate to work through his season-long slump. “I still feel the same way about him,” manager Buddy Bell told the Kansas City Star. “I’m really not interest in his numbers… the last week, he’s kind of reverted to the way he was early in the year. I’m hoping that doesn’t continue for very long.” Gordon is hitting .172 and is hitless in his last 18 at-bats.

Alex Gordon was back in the lineup on Monday after being rested Sunday and went 0-for-4. He is hitless in 18 at-bats, which has dropped his batting average to .172.

Alex Gordon is mired in yet another slump – he’s 2-for-19 in his last six games – but the Royals will continue to exercise patience. According to the team’s official website, Gordon is in no danger of being sent to the minor leagues nor of losing his spot as the team’s starting third baseman. "He is a good kid that just cares about contributing and doing well, and, eventually, he will,” manager Buddy Bell said. Gordon ranks dead last among the 186 major leaguers currently qualified for the batting title in both average (.185) and RBI (eight).

Alex Gordon may finally be breaking out of his yearlong slump. The rookie third baseman went 2-for-4 with his third homer of the season during a win over the Indians on Wednesday. “We’re rolling right now and getting a lot of hits,” Gordon told the Kansas City Star. “When your’e doing that, it’s fun. When it’s fun, good things are going to happen.” Gordon now has three straight multi-hit games to raise his batting average to .195.

Royals manager Buddy Bell indicated that Alex Gordon will split time with Mike Sweeney at first base until Ryan Shealy returns to action, according to the KC Star. Esteban German likely would play third when Gordon starts at first. Gordon might not see much action there, as Shealy could return as soon as Wednesday.

Royals GM Dayton Moore has no plans to ship Alex Gordon to Triple-A Omaha to get the rookie's struggling bat going, according to the KC Star. Gordon as mustered just four hits in his first 36 at-bats, while striking out 11 times.

Alex Gordon got a day off Saturday against Tigers lefty Mike Maroth, after going just 1-for-15 with six strikeouts in his first four games, the AP reports. Manager Buddy Bell said he was "absolutely not" sending a message at all to Gordon. "That was not my intention at all," Bell said. In the first four games, the opposing starters were Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Justin Verlander. "We'd have no players left if we evaluated players on Schilling, Beckett, Matsuzaka and Verlander," Bell said.

After starting the season 0-for-8, rookie Alex Gordon got his first hit of his big-league career against the Red Sox on Monday, hitting a single to left field off of Daisuke Matsuzaka in the fifth inning. Gordon went 1-for-4 in the game and is now hitting .071 on the year.

Alex Gordon went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored before Thursday's game was called by rain, the Royals official site reports. Gordon has clearly been the buzz of camp for the Royals, and he was named the team's starter at third base earlier in the week.

Alex Gordon was officially named the Royals starting third baseman Wednesday, to the surprise of no one. The exciting rookie is hitting .390 this spring (16-for-41), with a .500 on-base percentage and a .659 slugging percentage.

Alex Gordon had a single, a triple, and a run scored Wednesday against the Rockies. It appears he has a hammerlock on the team's starting spot at third base, not hard to see with Mark Teahen shifting to right field. Gordon is now hitting .375 this month.

Alex Gordon returned to limited workouts on Sunday after resting a sore shoulder, according to the KC Star. "I could have played (Sunday)," he said. "I mean, it’s not 100 percent, but I can tell now it’s just a bump or a bruise. I already feel a lot better." Gordon probably won't get back into game action until later this week, though.

"[Gordon] just woke up today [and] it was stiff, so we'll probably shut him down for a couple of days," manager Buddy Bell said. "At this point, we don't feel ike it's a serious issue."

Alex Gordon drove in four runs Thursday with a double and triple, and he's now 6-for-17 on the spring. Barring some crazy collapse the next few weeks, Gordon looks to have a hammerlock on the third base job in Kansas City. Mark Teahen, for what it's worth, hasn't seen action at third base yet in a game.
