After struggling in the outfield and hitting only .211 in six games, Melky Cabrera was optioned back to Triple-A Columbus by the Yankees, according to the New York Daily News.

Bernie Williams was back in center field for the Yankees on Saturday, and it appears that Melky Cabrera is done as a starter. Cabrera was 4-for-19 with no extra-base hits in six games.

Melky Cabrera went 1-for-4 with a single in his major league debut Thursday night. Yankees manager Joe Torre said before the game that Cabrera would likely start all four games of the series.

The Yankees called up Melky Cabrera from Triple-A Columbus, according to the AP. Cabrera hit .324 with three homers and 11 RBI in nine games for Columbus. He will start in center field tonight for the Yanks.
