Carlos Ruiz left Sunday's game in the bottom of the fourth inning after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch, according to SportsTicker. It's not clear yet if this will affect Ruiz's status for the NLDS, which begins Wednesday.

Carlos Ruiz is dealing with a sore right knee, but he missed Wednesday's game because of a suspension. Ruiz dropped the appeal stemming from a June 17 incident and served the one-game ban, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.

Carlos Ruiz had a career-night against the Reds on Tueday going 3-for-4 with a single and two doubles, drove in a career-best four runs, and also stole home. Ruiz became the first Phillies catcher in 25 years to steal home when he scored as part of a double steal in the second inning.

Even though Carlos Ruiz said his sore right shoulder is improving, he's not certain he'll be ready for opening day, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I don't know, man. I hope so," he said. "It's better. I was worried [Wednesday night, when he first experienced discomfort] but now I feel better."

Carlos Ruiz was examined Thursday and his right shoulder injury isn't considered serious, according to MLB.com. Ruiz was scratched from yesterday's game because of soreness in the shoulder. "It's one of the reasons why Rod Barajas became very important to us, because Carlos has never played in a full season in the Major Leagues," assistant GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "It was important for us to give ourselves some depth there. We hope he's going to be fine. Our goal is to have everybody healthy when we break camp."

Carlos Ruiz was scratched from yesterday's exhibition game due to a tight right biceps, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "Ruiz is a concern," manager Charlie Manuel said. "He's had that problem before." The status of Ruiz should be updated today.
