The Arizona Diamondbacks nearly lost the effort to bad relief pitching, but RHP Micah Owings was on his mark and pitching well, earning his fifth win of the season. Owings went six innings of shutout ball, giving up just five hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Manager Bob Melvin notes that Sunday's rainout helped all of his starting pitchers, as it allowed him to move the rotation back one day. Notably, Melvin tells the Arizona Republic that it gave Micah Owings an extra day to rest a sore right ankle. Owings will start on Wednesday.

Micah Owings' bullpen session went favorably on Tuesday and he said everything felt good and he is ready to make his scheduled start on Friday, according to the Arizona Republic. Owings sprained an ankle while running the bases Saturday in San Diego.
