A decision is expected to be made either today or Tuesday as to whether outfielder Reggie Willits will be placed on the DL due to his finger ailment, according to the LA Times. Willits said, "I'm going to take a day off to see if I can get the swelling out of the joint. It's a little sore. My biggest concern is it's on one of my throwing fingers."

Reggie Willits needed to receive stitches on his right middle finger after he was spiked on Saturday while trying to break up a double play as a pinch-runner in the eighth inning against the White Sox in Chicago, according to MLB.com. Manager Mike Scioscia said X-rays would be taken and Willits would be evaluated on Sunday. Sciosca added, "There's a possibility he'll go on the DL. We'll know more when we see how it responds."

The Angels recalled Reggie Willits from Triple-A Salt Lake Friday. Willits had a double in his lone at-bat this year with the Halos. He hit .378 in 37 at-bats with Salt Lake.

He is getting very little playing time with the Angels (only one plate appearance), and the team would send him down to get in some at-bats. The move would also allow them to call up an infielder for depth while Howie Kendrick is out.

Reggie Willits has some at-bats coming, according to MLB.com. Manager Sciosca stated, "I wanted to get our regular guys into the flow of the season, but Rivera and Willits are going to have to play shortly so they can stay fresh enough to contribute. We'll look closely at next week." Willits notably generated a two run double in his only at-bat of this season so far.

Reggie Willits underwent January surgery for the removal of a gallbladder, reports the team's official website. "I feel 100 times better since I had my surgery," Willits said on Thursday. The speedy outfielder might feel better physically, but he can't feel good about the team's signing of Torii Hunter during the offseason. The team is loaded with talent in the outfield; along with Willits and Hunter the team also rosters Vlad Guerrero, Garret Anderson, Juan Rivera and Gary Matthews Jr. With this group of outfielders Willits will have a tough time buying at-bats.
