The Colorado Rockies pulled out a hard-fought 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals this evening, but the hitting wasn't necessarily in full Colorado form. Only one hitter managed to post more than one hit on the evening, but catcher Chris Iannetta made the best of an otherwise worrisome performance. Iannetta went 1-for-4 at the plate with two strike outs, but that one hit was a triple, good for two RBIs.

The Denver Post reports that catcher Chris Iannetta started in front of Yorvit Torrealba on Tuesday night for the third straight game, and for manager Clint Hurdle it was a no-brainer. "I don't think I've ever sat a guy after a three-hit game," Hurdle said, referring to Iannetta's 3-for-4 performance Monday that boosted his average to .349. But there's more to it than that.
May 6, 2008
The Rockies struggled to produce offense as a team, taking the 6-5 loss from St. Louis, but catcher Chris Iannetta did what he could to keep them in the mix. Iannetta went 2-for-4 at the plate, hitting his 6th double and his 3rd home run of the season to total three RBIs and two runs scored.
March 24, 2008
Chris Iannetta went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI on Monday to raise his spring average to .344. Iannetta has hit just .230 in 274 career AB, but the team has always felt he was a better hitter than he has shown. If he continues to make consistent contact, he could be an asset in NL Only leagues.
March 4, 2008
Chris Iannetta went 2-for-2 with a double and one run in Colorado’s 5-11 loss to Kansas City in Cactus League action on Tuesday, hoping to keep a hot hand and battle for the catching job with the Rocks.

Chris Iannetta made it very clear on Sunday that he doesn't want to spend any more time in the minors. "I don't know how Triple-A at-bats are going to transfer into big-league at-bats," he tells the Denver Post. "Personally, I think that's pretty dumb." Iannetta is behind Yorvit Torrealba on the pecking order.
