Andrew Miller was shipped to Florida Tuesday as a part of the Miguel Cabrera/Dontrelle Willis trade. Miller posted a 5.63 ERA in 13 starts with Detroit this past year, but he should enjoy a move to the National League. He should begin the season as a part of Florida's rotation.

The Tigers have no intentions of re-inserting Andrew Miller into the rotation this year. Miller was sent down yesterday, a day after giving up five runs in just 2/3 of an inning in a loss to the Royals. There's a chance he could be used out of the bullpen at some point in September, but there aren't any immediate plans to use him in that role. Miller will "definitely will be a candidate" for the season-opening rotation next season, manager Jim Leyland told the Detroit Free Press.

The Tigers optioned Andrew Miller to Single-A Lakeland Thursday. The move comes a day after Miller gave up five runs in just 2/3 of an inning against the Royals. "We rolled the dice, and it's obvious that he needs more time," said Tigers manager Jim Leyland in the Detroit News. "I think Andrew Miller is going to be an outstanding pitcher in the Tigers rotation for a long time. When that happens, I don't know. But I think this kid will be a lights-out pitcher for a long time." Virgil Vasquez was recalled from Triple-A Toledo and will start on Friday.

It's possible Andrew Miller, who gave up five runs in just 2/3 of an inning Wednesday, won't make his next start. Manager Jim Leyland said he and pitching coach Chuck Hernandez would talk Wednesday night about their options with Miller, according to the Detroit Free Press. If Miller doesn't start as scheduled next Tuesday, the Tigers could either skip him in the rotation or put someone in his place, likely Zach Miner, for at least one start. The lefty has given up 11 runs in five innings since returning from the DL.

As expected, the Tigers activated Andrew Miller from the DL Friday, and the lefty will get the ball tonight against the Yankees. Miller had been sidelined by a strained hamstring.
August 22, 2007
Andrew Miller will return from the disabled list and start Friday's series opener against the Yankees. Miller has been out with a strained hamstring, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Andrew Miller looked good in his second rehab start Monday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out five over three innings. "It felt good - threw some more strikes, didn't walk anybody; I think those are positives," Miller said in the Detroit Free Press. "The leg feels great. It hasn't bothered me in a while." If the Tigers feel the lefty is recovered enough from his strained left hamstring, he could get a start this weekend against the Yankees.

Andrew Miller (hamstring) was not effective in his rehab start for Triple-A Toledo Wednesday, allowing five runs in the first inning on four hits and three walks. He wound up pitching two more scoreless innings. "Andrew struggled with his command in the first, but the big plus is that he battled the last two innings and settled down a bit," Toledo manager Mike Rojas told the Detroit Free Press.

Andrew Miller has improved to the point that he's scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, according to the Detroit Free Press. Miller, who is on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, could rejoin the Tigers as soon as a week from Tuesday.

Andrew Miller landed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday due to a left hamstring strain. The AP reported that Miller injured the hamstring on his last pitch of the fourth inning on Friday, and he couldn’t warm up for the fifth. Miller stay on the DL isn’t expected to last longer than the 15 required days. Fernando Rodney was called up from Triple-A Toledo and reinstated from the disabled list to take the roster spot. It's unclear who will replace Miller in Detroit's rotation.
August 3, 2007
Andrew Miller left Friday's start with a mild left hamstring strain, according to the AP. "I hurt it on the last pitch to (Paul) Konerko in the fourth," Miller said. "I thought it was a cramp but it wouldn't go away. The doctors said it was very mild and I should miss the shortest time possible." Miller is considered day-to-day, and it doesn't look like he'll be forced to miss a start.

It appears rookie Andrew Miller’s spot in the Tigers rotation is safe, though nothing is set in stone. Manager Jim Leyland still hasn’t decided what to do after Kenny Rogers and Nate Robertson both return to the rotation soon. According to the Detroit News, Miller will pitch on Sunday, with Monday’s start going to either Chad Durbin or Mike Maroth.
June 6, 2007
Andrew Miller will be called up in time to start Sunday against the Mets, the Tigers official site reports. Miller will be taking over for Nate Robertson (tired arm), who went on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

With Jeremy Bonderman set to return from the disabled list on Thursday, Andrew Miller was sent back to Double-A, where he’ll start for the Erie Seawolves on Thursday. Manager Jim Leyland told the Tigers official website that he believes Miller could start on a regular basis for the big club and has no plans to move him to the bullpen, so instead he will get more seasoning at the minor league level. Barring another injury to a member of the Tigers top five starters, Miller won't be making an immediate fantasy impact.
May 22, 2007
The Tigers optioned Andrew Miller to Double-A Erie on Tuesday, according to the AP. He made just one start for Detroit, throwing six shutout innings against the Cardinals and earning the victory. It's possible Miller could get another callup later in the year, but he could stand to get more seasoning in the minors.
May 18, 2007
Andrew Miller threw six scoreless innings and picked up his first major league victory on Friday night against the Cardinals. He will be sent back down to the minors once Jeremy Bonderman is healthy.
May 17, 2007
Manager Jim Leyland reiterated on Wednesday that top prospect Andrew Miller is not in the big leagues to stay, despite the fact he’ll be called up to take Jeremy Bonderman’s spot in the rotation on Friday. “We’re planning on Bonderman pitching (May 24th), when he’s eligible to come back, but we’ll not option Miller out right away after this game in case Bonderman isn’t ready,” Leyland told the Detroit News. “It’s very unlikely Miller will stay at this time whether he pitches a no-hitter or gives up 10 runs. It’s not going to make any difference right now.”
May 16, 2007
Andrew Miller will be recalled in time to make his first career start Friday against St. Louis, taking the spot of Jeremy Bonderman, the Tigers official site reports. Miller is expected to stay in the rotation as long as Bonderman is out, though Bonderman (blister on pitching finger) might just miss one turn. Miller is one of the most highly-touted players in Detroit's farm system; he was the sixth overall pick in last summer's draft.

January 19, 2007
Andrew Miller is expected to begin the year at Class-A Lakeland, the Detroit Free Press reports. "He won't be on the team," manager Jim Leyland said. "When I say that, it's 99.9% accurate that he's probably not going to break with the club, (but) that doesn't mean he won't be a member of our staff before the year's over." Miller was Detroit's first-round draft pick last summer.
