Chuck James threw off a mound Wednesday and didn't feel any pain in his shoulder. The left had some problems with the shoulder towards the end of last season. Even with the positive mound session, GM Frank Wren isn't ready to pencil James into the opening day rotation just yet. "It's probably too early to speculate on that," Wren said in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We'll see how the next couple of weeks go, see if he can get out there and get innings built up." James isn't a given to crack the top five even if he is healthy, despite 22 wins over the last two years. Mike Hampton, Jair Jurrjens, Jo-Jo Reyes and Jeff Bennett are fighting for rotation spots, as well.

James, who suffered a slight tear in his rotator cuff, said his shoulder is still bothering him on occasion. James' fantasy potential is high, but so is his risk of injury; including a possible lighter workload early this season to protect his shoulder.
