The Mets placed pitcher Jason Vargas on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21. Vargas is nursing a hip injury and surgery still might be required. The left-hander has no current fantasy value.

Jason Vargas is expected to require to surgery to repair a tear in his hip, according to the New York Daily News. He likely will need about three months to recover from the procedure.

July 2, 2007
The Mets recalled Jason Vargas from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday to take Oliver Perez's roster spot, according to the AP. Vargas is to start against the Rockies on Tuesday night. He was 6-5 with a 4.35 ERA in 13 starts at New Orleans.

Jason Vargas was optioned to Triple-A Friday, making room for Orlando Hernandez off the disabled list. Vargas made one start for the Mets in this tour of duty, allowing five runs over seven innings against the Cubs.

The Mets called up Jason Vargas on Thursday. He will start against the Cubs on Thursday afternoon, the AP reports. Vargas was 2-3 with a 5.30 ERA at Triple-A New Orleans.
