The Red Sox are reportedly impressed with Craig Hansen's improvements this season. He has tossed 9.1 scoreless innings at Triple-A and allowed only two hits over 31 at-bats. An official tells the Boston Globe that Hansen has been more assertive, too. The club is likely to wait a little longer before potentially calling him up, though.

Craig Hansen has been sent down to Triple-A Pawtucket, according to MLB.com. Manager Francona commented, "We've got a kid that has had some ups and downs. We hope the ups are on their way. With the shortened spring, we didn't want to send him down yet. Now we had to, because we're leaving. We told him he had a good camp. He's growing up. He's one of those other kids that's growing up right in front of our eyes. It wasn't the most enjoyable news for him, but he's going to be the Manny Delcarmen of this year. He'll go back and do it right and come back and help us."

Craig Hansen feels like a new man heading into spring training. The reliever underwent surgery for sleep apnea in November, and he's really felt the results. "When I did the sleep study last season, they said I had 56 currencies in an hour, and the normal amount is four," Hansen told MLB.com. "They said I pretty much didn't sleep at all. I basically had no clue until I woke up the next morning and still felt tired." Hansen had a disappointing 2007 season, failing to make it up to the big leagues after spending time with the Sox in both 2005 and 2006. We'll see if more sleep can lead to better results.
