Rich Hill owns a 1.69 ERA over two starts for Triple-A Iowa, but he has also walked five batters over 10.2 innings. He needs to pitch better in order to return to the majors. "I would think so," manager Lou Piniella informs the Chicago Sun-Times. The skipper notes that Hill only threw 28 of his 55 fastballs for strikes in his last outing.

Rich Hill pitched very well in the first game of Triple-A Iowa’s doubleheader on Sunday, throwing 5.2 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits, four walks and struck out eight.

Rich Hill's days in the Cubs rotation may have come to an end. The left-hander was pulled after walking four and allowing one run in the first inning of Friday night's game in St. Louis.

Rich Hill will get nine days off due to the Cubs "skip" plan, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Monday's day off for the Cubs will skip Hill's next turn in the rotation. Manager Lou Piniella is doing it to keep his top four starters fresh with every fifth day pitching cycles. Piniella also noted that the Brewers (the Cubs upcoming opponent) is 5-0 against lefties.
