Rich Hill continued his stretch of great pitching Monday night, allowing one earned run on six hits while striking out six over 5 2/3 innings. In his last six games (five starts), Hill is 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA.

Rich Hill was scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Astros, but was forced to toss the final two innings in relief in Tuesday's 18-inning win over the Houston Tuesday night. There is no word on who the Cubs will use to start Wednesday's game, but they will either call someone up from the minors, or pitch Carlos Marmol on short rest.

As expected, the Cubs called up Rich Hill to start against the Cardinals on Thursday. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out one. Prior to the promotion, Hill was 7-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 15 starts at Triple-A.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Rich Hill will be called up to start for the Cubs against the Cardinals on Thursday. Hill is 0-4 with a 9.31 ERA in four starts in the majors this year. For Triple-A Iowa, Hill is 7-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 15 starts, with a whopping 135 strikeouts in 100 innings.

Rich Hill threw seven shutout innings while striking out nine and surrendering one hit for Triple-A Iowa on Monday, according to the Cubs website. Hill is 5-1 with a 1.91 ERA and 95 K in 70 2/3 IP for Iowa this season.

The Cubs recalled Rich Hill from Triple-A Iowa Monday, according to the AP. Hill replaces David Aardsma on the roster and will take Glendon Rusch's turn in the rotation Thursday. Hill had a 1.44 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 25 innings for Iowa.

Rich Hill, who could be given a look in the Cubs rotation if Mark Prior isn't ready for the beginning of the season, allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks in two innings of work Thursday, according to the AP. "I think overall it was pretty poor," Hill said. "It wasn't a very good outing. I think that one of the things that needs to be improved on is just the attitude of going out and getting after it."
