Joey Devine picked up four outs on Thursday, three via the strikeout, to lower his ERA to 0.55 on the year.

April 10, 2008
Joey Devine was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to replace the disabled Rich Harden. Devine will fill the relief role of Lenny DiNardo who is expected to start for Harden on Saturday.

The A's officially optioned Joey Devine to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday after informing him of the planned move the day prior, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He was slowed earlier this month by back spasms but should be recalled in the not-to-distant future.

Joey Devine, out the past couple of days because of back spasms, threw no Wednesday on the sidelines and could see game action on Saturday, this according to MLB.com. Devine figures to be little more than an arm in the A's bullpen early in the year, but if the team end's up trading Huston Street as has been rumored, Devine could find himself in the closers role for the rebuilding A's.

Joey Devine will sit out a few days because of back spasms, according to the AP. He's yet to appear in a game this spring but has a good chance to make the roster as a setup man if he pitches well.
