Mike Mussina agreed to terms on a two-year, $23 million contract with the Yankees on Monday, according to Newsday. A physical is scheduled for today, and an announcement of the deal is expected shortly afterward.

Mike Mussina and the Yankees remain close to working out a new deal that likely will pay him between $22 million and $23 million over the next two seasons, according to the New York Daily News. Mussina provisionally filed for free agency Saturday, and the Yanks are expected to turn down their $17 million option for next season, but all signs point to Mussina returning under a new deal.

The Yankees have decided to bump Mike Mussina out of his scheduled start on Sunday, according to the AP. "His arm is a little achy," New York manager Joe Torre said Friday. "Achy in the normal places, but he hadn't pitched in a couple of weeks so it's not unusual. [But] it's something he hadn't felt in a while." Mussina is now slated to pitch next Tuesday.
