Miguel Montero had played in six games of his rehab assignment entering Wednesday, according to the Arizona Republic. Manager Bob Melvin said Montero would need to catch nine innings in back-to-back games before he is ready to return. He was scheduled to catch seven innings on Wednesday and is expected to be ready to come off the DL before the end of the month. He is recovering from a fractured right index finger.

Miguel Montero had another CT scan on his broken right index finger, according to the Arizona Republic. The results showed improvement in the digit, but he was told to rest it for another week. "Based on not having another week, it's going to be real difficult to get him ready for the start of the season," manager Doug Melvin said. Hopefully Montero will be available soon after the season begins, but clearly he's all but out for opening day.

Miguel Montero still is bothered by his broken finger enough that the Diamondbacks announced Friday he will not play in a spring game for at least the next two weeks, according to the Arizona Republic. A CT scan revealed Friday that the fractured digit sustained in a December winter league game still has not fully healed. At this point, it looks like Montero will have a tough time being ready by opening day.

Miguel Montero , who is recovering from a broken finger suffered when playing winter ball, had a second X-ray taken Thursday that confirmed the fracture has not progressed like the team would have liked. The Arizona catcher has been told not to swing a bat and limit any throwing sessions according to the official team website. "It just hasn't quite responded to the point where they envisioned at this point of time," Melvin said. The injury figures to create more looks, swings and plate opportunities for starter Chris Snyder this spring, and that might not be "bad" thing.

Miguel Montero will likely be limited at the start of training camp thanks to an injured index finger according to Arizona Central. “A foul tip fractured his right index finger,” GM Josh Byrnes said. “So we’ll probably ease off on hitting early (in spring training). He should be OK for catching bullpens and throwing." Montero figures to back up Chris Snyder anyway, though this injury might cause him to lose enough looks in camp to really tilt things in favor of Snyder.
