Dana Eveland silenced the Mariners' bat Saturday, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven innings. It was Eveland's first start since getting recalled from Triple-A.

Dana Eveland is a top candidate for a spot start in place of one of the ailing pitchers (Sean Gallagher and Justin Duchscherer), according to the SF Chronicle. Kirk Saarloos is also likely to cover the other spot start, but Dan Meyer will also be considered.

As anticipated, Oakland LHP Dana Eveland has been sent back to Triple-A Sacramento following a horrific experience against Boston yesterday, suffering the 12-2 loss after just two innings of work, according the the San Francisco Chronicle.

Dana Eveland was yanked after two innings in Saturday's disheartening 12-2 loss to Boston, as he was lit up for nine earned runs on eight hits, with two walks and two strikeouts.

Oakland couldn't turn late hits into runs and suffered the 4-1 loss to the Angels as a result, leaving LHP Dana Eveland with the short end of the stick and his sixth loss of the season. Eveland pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts.
