Ryan Theriot missed Friday's game after leaving Thursday's contest with an injured right middle finger, according to the Chicago Tribune. He split the digit and the fingernail lifted away, but X-rays revealed no break. It's not clear when he'll be back in action.

Ryan Theriot was forced out of Thursday's game in the ninth inning after injuring his right hand fielding a ground ball, according to the AP. He was sent to the hospital following the game to have the injury examined.

Ryan Theriot should see regular action now that Cesar Izturis is on the DL. Ronny Cedeno will start at either shortstop or second base, and Theriot and Freddie Bynum are the only other middle infielders on the roster right now.

With the trade of Neifi Perez, Ryan Theriot is expected to get some more playing time, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Theriot, who is a good defensive second baseman, will work some at shortstop and third base. "We think he might be more of a utility guy," manager Dusty Baker said. "It's a tough job for a veteran and really tough for a rookie. But he's willing to do what he has to to stay here."

The Cubs recalled Ryan Theriot from Triple-A Iowa on Monday to replace the injured Derrek Lee on the roster, according to the AP. Theriot, who hit .154 (2-for-13) with the Cubs earlier in the season, will be used as a backup infielder. He doesn't figure to see much playing time.

The Chicago Tribune reports that Ryan Theriot, recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, could get a shot at some playing time at second base and the outfield. "He'll give us some energy, and he can play all positions," manager Dusty Baker said. "He's basically an infielder that can give us some speed. We've got to try something there."

The Cubs recalled Ryan Theriot from Triple-A Iowa. Theriot, who plays primarily shortstop and second base but has also seen time in the outfield this season, was hitting .290 with no homers and five steals through 107 at-bats. He will strictly be a bench player for the Cubs.
