The Pirates promoted J.J. Furmaniak from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday and thrust him right into the starting lineup in place of the ailing Jack Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Furmaniak hit .288 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 36 games for Indianapolis since being acquired July 28 from the Padres for David Ross.
