Yovani Gallardo held the Diamondbacks scoreless over six innings to pick up his second win of the season on Thursday. He gave up just three hits and two walks, while striking out four batters. With Ben Sheets out of action for the next 4-6 weeks, the rookie phenom Gallardo will be starting for the foreseeable future and should be owned in all leagues.

Yovani Gallardo will replace the injured Ben Sheets in the Milwaukee rotation starting Thursday, the team's official site reports. Sheets is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to a sprained middle finger.

With Ben Sheets heading to the DL, Yovani Gallardo is likely to get a start for the Brewers Thursday. Gallardo holds a 2.83 ERA in six games (three starts) for the Brew Crew this season.

Ned Yost says no decision has been made on what roster move will be made when Chris Capuano comes off the DL, the AP reports. If Yovani Gallardo stays, he probably will be used in long relief, despite the fact that the rookie has been sharp in all three of his turns. "He could be 3-0," Yost said. "He has great makeup and composure."

The Brewers are thinking about keeping Yovani Gallardo in the majors but moving him to the bullpen. They need to open up a rotation spot when Chris Capuano comes off the DL next week. "If we had our druthers, we'd rather have (Gallardo) be a starter," manager Ned Yost tells the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "But, then again, there's some conventional wisdom behind the fact that if we keep Gallardo up here and use him as a long (reliever), limit his innings through July and August, if anything happened, we'd have a quality starter ready to step in."

In his major-league debut against the Giants on Monday, Yovani Gallardo worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four and earning the victory. Assuming the Brewers don't keep Ben Sheets on his regular rest, Gallardo will make his second start of the week on Sunday against the Royals.
June 15, 2007
Yovani Gallardo was recalled from Triple-A after Thursday's game, as expected. Gallardo will likely start Monday's game with the Giants. The highly-touted right-hander has been outstanding in the minors this year, with a 2.93 ERA and 110 strikeouts over 77 2/3 innings.

The Brewers are expected to call up Yovani Gallardo on Thursday, and he could start in place of Chris Capuano on Monday, MLB.com reports. Gallardo is 8-3 with a 2.93 ERA and 110 strikeouts over 77.2 innings at Triple-A Nashville. He is worth grabbing in any type of fantasy league, even though his starting status and the length of his stay are still unclear. He's too much of a stud to not take a chance on.
March 19, 2007
The Brewers sent top pitching prospect Yovani Gallardo to minor league camp on Monday, according to the AP. He struggled this spring, holding a 7.27 ERA in 8 2/3 innings, but he could join the Brewers rotation at some point during the summer.
