The Yankees optioned Chris Britton back to Triple-A Scranton Saturday to clear room on their roster for Roger Clemens. Britton allowed one run, a solo homer, over five innings of action since being recalled.

The Yankees called up Chris Britton from Triple-A on Friday, the AP reports. Britton, 24, was 0-0 with a 0.78 ERA and five saves at Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Chris Britton was recalled from Triple-A Thursday, taking Philip Hughes's spot on the roster. Britton was up with the club earlier in the year and worked two innings; he also had a 3.35 ERA in 53.2 innings with the Yankees last year.

The Yankees called up Chris Britton from Triple-A Scranton on Friday to give the club another arm in the bullpen, according to the AP. Britton posted a 3.35 ERA in 52 relief appearances for the big-league club last year.
