Brandon Fahey has been working out in the outfield lately to increase his versatility, according to the Baltimore Sun. "Right now [Jeff] Conine and [Kevin] Millar have been swinging the bat a lot better. But if they were to struggle, it gives us an option to let him maybe start a game if we had to," manager Sam Perlozzo said. Fahey is hitting .267 in 75 at-bats with the O's this year.

The Baltimore Sun reports that O's manager Sam Perlozzo said Brandon Fahey and Chris Gomez probably will platoon at second base until Brian Roberts returns to the mix. The left-handed hitting rookie is hitting .273 in 22 at-bats and has been starting at shortstop recently, in place of the injured Miguel Tejada.

Brandon Fahey got his fifth straight start at shortstop Thursday. He has been filling in for Miguel Tejada, who has been nursing a hyperextended knee. Tejada has been in the DH spot the last few games, but he is expected to return to the field soon.
