Pedro Martinez threw nearly 60 pitches at New York's spring training complex in Florida on Friday, this according to the AP. The Mets still have no timetable for when the injured right-hander might return to the team.

Pedro Martinez will throw a side session on Friday as he attempts to return from his strained left hamstring, according to the AP. Until Pedro gets on the mound where he starts moving around, hes just doing his rehab, so theres nothing to report thats significant, manager Willie Randolph said.

Pedro Martinez is still limited to side sessions, but he may be able to face live hitters next week. "Each time he gets up there to see how it feels, they push it a little further," assistant general manager John Ricco tells MLB.com. Martinez is out due to a strained left hamstring. He will need to pitch to batters before going on a minor league rehab stint.

The Mets have set a rough timetable for Pedro Martinez to return to action, according to Newsday.com. Team orthopedist David Altchek examined his strained hamstring, and the prognosis is that he can return to the mound in 10 days to two weeks. But that's only for a bullpen session, and after missing so much time, it's likely that Martinez will need three more weeks before he can return to the Mets. GM John Ricco said, "He's progressing well. He's ahead of where we thought he'd be."

Pedro Martinez will travel to New York this week to be re-evaluated by team medical director Dr. David Altchek, according to MLB.com. He is nursing a left hamstring strain.
